The most obvious feature of elephants, besides their massive size, is their trunk. This unique organ is an elongation of the elephant's nose and upper lip. Being one of the most intelligent animals, elephants use their flexible trunk as a hand, for breathing, smelling, and drinking water. At its tip, the trunk has two finger-like projections, which help the elephant manipulate small objects and pluck plants. Beside all this, the trunk has one more useful application -- to shower. Elephants can pull up to 11.5 liters (3 gallons) of water into it and then spray it around.
