The chimpanzee is our closest relative, with 99.4% of our genetic material being identical to theirs. They are very sociable animals and have the ability to learn sign language. Chimps manufacture and use tools -- most often to get to some kind of food (sticks to gather insects, stones to crack hard seeds, etc.) Chimpanzees are unique in their ability to recognize themselves in a mirror.
