Did you know that almonds are actually a member of the peach family? They both belong to the subfamily Prunus, as do the plum, cherry, and apricot. So botanically soeaking, the almond is not a nut, but a fruit. Almonds grow on trees as apricots do and represent the seeds of these trees.
